EMILY THE STRANGE Emily the Strange is 13 years old and one bad kitty. She likes to hideout in her own little world with her posse of four black cats. Emily is anti cool, a subculture of one and a follower of no one but herself. Emily is respected as the original- her style is often copied but never duplicated. The brand has a definite point of difference. There is nothing else in the marketplace quite like it- the products are diverse but all items are unique in that an everyday item is reinvented to give it that special Emily element. Emily's signature colours are red black and white and most of the core products are in keeping with this colour palette. The brand, Emily the Strange, originated in 1992 down-town in San Francisco when a streetcar racer and a skate rat bumped heads amid the punk scene, produced their first impressions of the character Emily the Strange and launched the brand with a collection of bumper stickers and a couple of t-shirts which they screen-printed by hand. It didn't take long for Emily the Strange to establish credibility and gain a cult-like status in America, as a result, distribution channels have expanded and Emily the Strange has become an international icon and one of the most sort after brands in the global marketplace. In 2002 Atomic entered into a license agreement and began designing unique Emily the Strange products for wholesale in Australia and New Zealand. As of Summer 2006, Atomic will take over the design of apparel and accessories for the rest of the world. Atomic also sells products produced by other licensees, such as stationary, story books, comics, toys and cosmetics. For more information visit the global website: emilystrange.com.
